<br /> Re: All radioactive waste importation applications under consideration</p> <p>Dear Compact Commissioners,</p> <p>I urge you to halt decision-making on all applications to import radioactive waste for disposal at Waste Control Specialists’ site in West Texas. Serious water issues at the site have not been resolved and radioactive contamination of waterways must be prevented. There is water present in monitoring wells in the buffer zone, which must by law remain dry. If after extensive pumping a dry site can later be assured, Texas’ and Vermont’s waste should be disposed of first, since they are the Compact states for whom the site was built. There is a serious question as to whether the site can actually accommodate imported waste from other states and still have enough volume and curie capacity for Compact State waste.</p> <p>Sincerely,<br />
